Western Electric Horn Speaker. The very small vertical opening seems to indicate that this WE horn speaker is from the early 1920s. The little funnel horn W.E. speakers are actually telephone 'Howlers'. They were used in place of a ringer in railroad and perhaps other places where noise may have been a problem. They were mounted on a wall by a 312a phone.
